A Novel Wireless TCP for 5G Mobile Network
|
Transmission control protocol (TCP) was originally designed for use in wired networks, so all packet losses are considered to be due to network congestion. However, in wireless networks, packet losses are mainly caused by transmission failure in wireless channel, and in such a situation, a sudden congestion window reduction causes a deterioration of performance of the entire system. The disadvantage of TCP in 5G wireless communication providing high-speed data transmission service will result in a fatal degradation of the system performance. For highly reliable and efficient data communication, wireless TCP for 5G mobile network should have ability to distinguish network congestion from packet transmission failure. In this paper, a novel TCP for 5G mobile network is proposed. The proposed TCP is designed considering the essential requirements of 5G wireless mobile network, and simulation results demonstrate that the throughput performance of proposed TCP outperforms that of other TCPs.
